When you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city there is no better place to retreat to that the tranquil Royal Botanic Garden.
Founded as a physic garden in the 17th century it has been located at in Inverleith since 1820, and is a fascinating scientific centre for the conservation and study of plants. A popular all the year round tourist attraction it’s a great venue to explore for its world famous Rock Garden, peat gardens and elaborate Glasshouses .
Look out for the shell house hidden in the Queen Mother’s Memorial Garden. Made from Caithness stone, the pavilion’s interior is decorated with thousands of seashells. On the outside the weathered metal door furniture illustrates the passage of time.
